Our Commitment...

At Cross Island Farms we strive to be sustainable in three dimensions: ecologically, economically, and socially. In Holistic Management this is referred to as the Triple Win Goal. Our efforts in this direction have led us to begin producing our own electricity via a 10 kw wind turbine, a solar power 5.5 kw panel system, and a 17 kw propane-fired standby generator. The wind turbine and solar panels are grid-connected with net metering and the propane generator keeps the farm running seamlessly in case the grid goes down. The wind and solar are projected to produce approximately all of our electricity needs on an annual basis!
